8. Current EU support thorough IPARD funds for the Republic of Serbia agriculture -2 hours 

The lectures shall explore the theoretical framework sustainable agriculture values of the Common agricultural policy including climate and environmental objectives of the Common agricultural policy (CAP), with an aim to familiarize the students with the observance of the conditions of agricultural reform, natural resource management, diversification, climate change, and CAP developments in the period 2014-2020. This process strongly influences the policies of the member states as well as potential members and impacts the reform of agricultural policy instruments of Republic of Serbia. The students will also become familiar with the mechanisms through which the current EU support for Serbian agriculture is implemented- IPARD II funding.

“Organic agriculture in the European Union”

8. Consumer attitudes towards organic products in the EU and Serbia -2 hours 

The main purpose of the new course is to contribute to better understanding of the principles of organic agriculture in the European Union and the fundamental values on which it is based. The course examines analytically EU legislative framework for organic production and its main aspects (history, financing under CAP and EU organic products market). It also examines state of organic agriculture in the Republic of Serbia, harmonization of the legislative framework for organic production in line with EU legislation as well as current market trends and consumer attitudes towards organic products in the EU and Serbia.

“Protection of geographical indications within the free trade area between Serbia and European Union”

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the legal instruments for the protection of geographical indications of origin within the free trade zone between Serbia and the EU. The free trade zone between Serbia and the European Union has been established by Stabilization and Association Agreement signed in 2008. The agreement provides liberalization of trade in agricultural products, with strict observance of the geographical indications. In accordance with agreement Serbia is also obliged to harmonize its legislations with EU acquis regarding the protection of intellectual, industrial and commercial property. Within this course, students will be introduced to the importance and basic problems regarding the protection of intellectual property rights, and especially the protection of geographical indications.

8. Harmonization of Serbia’s legislation with EU acquis in the field of intellectual property law – 2 hours 

The main goal of this course is to acquaint students with the basic legal instruments in the field of protection of geographical indications and designation of origin in the European Union. Within this course, we will also pay attention to the relevant international agreements signed by the European Union and/or its member states. Finally, within this course, students will be introduced with the main challenges and problems related to the process of harmonization of Serbian legislation with the EU acquis in the field of intellectual property law, including the protection of geographical indications.

The main goal of the course is to contribute to a better understanding of EU rural policy. Within this goal, the course will focus on EU rural policy and its main principles, instruments and measures.

The main goal of the course is to contribute to a better understanding of EU rural policy, so that the Serbian rural policy in context of EU integration can be more easily understood.
